“I noticed the biology and physics bachelor’s degree vs time graph on page 5 of ‘What Can We Learn From the Biologists About Research, Development, and Change in Undergraduate Education?’ [Hake (1999)] at http://bit.ly/brgk1E. Is there an easy way to find statistics like those?”

Yes, at “Science and Engineering Indicators 2012 - Chapter 2. Higher Education in Science and Engineering” [NSF (2012)] at http://1.usa.gov/Mr7FyC, clicking on “appendix table 2-18” under “S&E Bachelor’s Degrees” yields a table “Earned bachelor’s degree by sex and field 2000-2009.” I show, from that table, the number of degrees in 2000 and in 2009 for astronomy, biological sciences, chemistry, computer science, earth sciences, engineering, mathematics/statistics, physics, and psychology.
