Re: Required Statistical Literacy Course for All Students? #2

Some blog followers may be interested in a recent post of the above title [Hake (2010)]. The abstract reads:

ABSTRACT: Jonathan Groves, in a MathEDCC post "Required Statistical Literacy Course for All Students?" wrote: ". . . . a required statistical literacy course of some sort for all college students (and probably for high school students as well) is a great idea. . . . . The lack of such a universal requirement keeps the public at large in the dark when statistics is purposefully abused to suit certain people's purposes rather than used to arrive at the truth." The statistical illiteracy of the general population was also pointed out in: (a) "Statistical Illiteracy" [Hake (2008a)], (b) "Statistical Illiteracy - ERRATUM & ADDENDA" [Hake (2008b)], and (c) "Chances Are? [Strogatz (2010)]; all of whom point to the work of Gerd Gigerenzer - see e.g., Gigerenzer (2003) & Gigerenzer et al. (2008).
